Biscom to Showcase ConServR™for "Safe Document Delivery" at Networld+Interop

Converts Windows Native Application Files to Image Formats

Atlanta, GA (September 26, 2000) - Biscom announced today that its Lincoln & Co. division will showcase ConServR, its latest document conversion technology this week, at Networld + Interop. By converting Microsoft Windows-based native application files to image formats, ConServR enhances the ability of users to send documents safely via both internal email servers and web-based mail services. ConServR prevents email viruses distributed via attachments, allows recipients to view attachments without the applications themselves, and limits recipients' abilities to alter any attachments. The company will be partnering with service providers to offer the benefits afforded by ConServR to their customers.

"ConServR can render active email attachments, such as Word and Excel files, to passive image formats, such as GIF and TIFF, thus eliminating possible viruses," says Jim Lincoln, president of Lincoln & Co. "Furthermore, most Windows applications files can be viewed without requiring the application itself, simply by linking to the ConServR web site and converting them to a standard viewer format there."

ConServR processes input files from MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, WordPerfect, Lotus123, WordPro, Freelance, and Visio. It also converts PostScript, PCL5e, PDF, and HTML files. Inputs planned for support during the current year include AFP, PCL5C, XML, and additional Windows application formats as determined by market requirements. The current output format is TIFF G3/G4, GIFF, and JPEG, but PCX/DCX and BMP will be added during in the coming months.

"The process of converting the document ensures that viruses will not be attached to the file. The recipient is guaranteed to receive an image file and not a file that contains macros," explains Chris MacKenzie, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for Biscom. "ConServR extends Biscom's commitment to provide what we are calling 'safe document delivery' solutions to mission critical organizations and service providers."

Other Biscom products include FAXCOM fax servers, which also provide 'safe document delivery' capabilities with fax delivery of documents.

Biscom will be exhibiting the Lincoln & Co. ConServR product at Networld + Interop, in Atlanta, GA, Booth # 1103 from September 26-28, 2000. For a limited time, users can gain free access to a ConServR demonstration and convert Word, Excel, PDF, HTML, PostScript and PCL documents to TIFF G3/G4 image format, with GIF and JPEG coming soon, by visiting http://www.lincolnco.com/ConServrData.htm.
