Biscom Announces Free Upgrade for Lotus Fax for Domino Users

Provides the ability to send/receive faxes from users’ existing Lotus fax desktop client

Chelmsford, MA (January 15, 2001) – At the Lotusphere 2001 show in Florida today, Biscom, leaders in enterprise fax management, announced FAXCOM for Domino Special Edition. Now through March 15, 2001 the product is being offered as a free software promotion to current users of Lotus Development Corporation’s Fax for Domino product. Developed specifically for organizations that have standardized on the Lotus Domino and Domino environment, FAXCOM for Domino Special Edition enables existing Lotus Fax for Domino desktop client software to work with Biscom’s robust fax servers.

"We are offering a strong migration solution to Lotus Fax for Domino users who will be affected by the withdrawal of that product from Lotus’s product line and service center. An IBM and Lotus business partner for many years, Biscom is uniquely positioned to offer an excellent level of service to Lotus users," explains Chris MacKenzie, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for Biscom. "Our goal is to transition customers to Biscom’s superb product with as little financial burden as possible."

"The migration process is always faced with the high cost of retraining desktop users," explains Gus Agudelo, principal architect for FAXCOM for Domino. "By supporting major Lotus Fax for Domino features, Biscom’s FAXCOM for Domino Special Edition becomes the lowest cost and fastest migration path for current Fax for Domino customers seeking a solution supported by a major fax server vendor."

With Biscom’s FAXCOM for Domino software, users can turn their Domino environment into a complete electronic messaging system that sends and receives email and faxes from one familiar interface.

FAXCOM for Domino offers many capabilities:

  • Works with existing Lotus Fax for Domino and Domino Fax Server desktop clients as well as Biscom’s own FAXCOM for Domino client
  • Runs on an NT server and also connects to any Domino server, regardless of the platform: Windows 2000, UNIX, AS/400, mainframes
  • Sends and receives faxes from any Microsoft Windows application via the Domino user interface instead of a proprietary dialog box
  • Enables users to add a fax phone number to any Name and Address book contact or group entry, enabling quick retrieval of intended fax recipients
  • Provides many views for monitoring fax traffic such as: by hour, by status, by user and fax port
  • Sends and receives faxes over an organization’s intranet or the Internet
  • Integrates the sending and receiving of faxes with email

This special promotion, which includes FAXCOM for Domino gateway software, a special 4-port version of Biscom’s backend fax server software, and a license for up to 100 desktop users, offers savings of approximately $10,000. To take advantage of this special promotion for FAXCOM for Domino Special Edition, a purchase of a one-year technical support contract from Biscom is required. Biscom is also offering discounted pricing for the standard version of the FAXCOM for Domino product, a turnkey system that supports a higher number of ports and users.
