Biscom Launches FAXCOM® SE at COMDEX 2001
LAS VEGAS, NV (Nov. 12, 2001) - At the Comdex show today, Biscom, Inc. (www.biscom.com), provider of enterprise fax management solutions, announced the release of FAXCOM SE, the Software Edition of its turnkey FAXCOM Server 5.1. The new product wraps FAXCOM 5.1 with FAXCOM for Windows and FAXCOM for Exchange into a comprehensive software offering. New software options include FAXCOM HeartBeat® and FAXCOM JobTracking®. FAXCOM SE is available immediately.
FAXCOM SE, which retains traditional FAXCOM features, serves as an alternative method for IT and MIS managers to install FAXCOM on-site. The step-by-step installation process makes it easy to implement FAXCOM SE and get up and running quickly.
The new software product includes support for Brooktrout's new TR1034 fax board, which provides faster transmission time (up to 33.6 kbs) and higher port density (24 ports per board).
FAXCOM HeartBeat, an optional self-diagnostic software feature offered with FAXCOM SE, continuously monitors fax server system(s) to ensure connectivity and to alert system administrators of a system failure. Heartbeat implements its own fax account and then periodically sends a simulated fax through the fax routing system to ensure its connectivity. If the test fax cannot complete the circuit, an alarm is sent alerting administrators of the problem.
Another new software option associated with FAXCOM SE is FAXCOM JobTracking, which ensures that a fax is never lost, allows users to confirm fax delivery and collect a fax data log providing detailed information about fax usage trends. JobTracking attaches a UID (Unique Identifier) to each fax, which serves as a file name for routing and archiving. Furthermore, system administrators may attach any number of user-definable attributes to fax jobs for their own internal tracking purposes. JobTracking lets the user know where the fax is in the routing process, and when the fax arrives in its final location. If the fax delivery is not confirmed within a user-specified time period, an alarm is sent.
"In light of email viruses and postal mail threats, businesses and government organizations should turn to computer fax as their primary method for communicating," said S.K. Ho, founder and CEO of Biscom. "Biscom's family of reliable and proven FAXCOM products, including our newest addition, FAXCOM SE, is step beyond traditional fax machines because it incorporates the convenience of email delivery and the ability to send faxes directly to recipients' desktops where they can't be viewed by anyone else. FAXCOM Servers enable businesses and government agencies to quickly and reliably transmit critical documents from desktops or any mission-critical application within the internal network."
