National Envelope provides quotes, acknowledgements and other up-to-date information to customers in virtually any format requested, including traditional mail, email, EDI, XML and fax. When customers request faxes, manual processing is not an option due to its volume and inefficiency. The company relies on IBM’s System i computing platform, and sought a solution that could be integrated with its
existing ERP and electronic form applications. Biscom’s FAXCOM for iSeries solution meets the company’s needs.
“Biscom’s seamless integration with our System i applications was very appealing to us,” said Scott Steinacher, Data Architect for National Envelope. “The product works with everything we run, and that’s critical.”

Tech Note: FAXCOM Suite for Windows - SMTP Fax Gateway
Earlier versions of our FAXCOM Suite for Windows solution included an X.400 Fax Connector to allow Outlook users to send and receive faxes via email. In the current version of FAXCOM Suite for Windows, this same functionality is provided with an SMTP Fax Gateway. After the release of Exchange Server 2000, Microsoft encouraged software developers such as Biscom to utilize SMTP Gateways instead of X.400 Connectors for application integration.
The SMTP Fax Gateway can run on the Exchange Server or it can run elsewhere, and it is an easier implementation than the older Connector. If you are a Biscom customer running the X.400 Fax Connector, we’d like to talk with you and discuss the benefits of transitioning to the SMTP Fax Gateway.
