Chelmsford, MA, September 5, 2006 – Biscom
Inc., a leading provider of enterprise fax and secure document delivery
solutions, recently celebrated its 20th year in business.
Biscom has provided many of the world's largest organizations
with enterprise communications solutions, most notably its
award-winning FAXCOM enterprise fax management solutions. With
a customer base across all market segments, Biscom has substantial
experience and presence in the areas of health care, government,
delivery services, telecommunications, insurance, and mortgage,
investment, and retail banking. Biscom's substantial customer
base includes CitiMortgage and the US Senate, as well as successful
partnerships with GE Healthcare and Microsoft.
Founded in 1986 by S.K. Ho, formerly
the Director of Engineering at Wang Laboratories, Biscom
pioneered the fax server concept
and designed the first enterprise fax server. The central feature
of Biscom’s initial fax server design was a full-featured
Application Programming Interface (API) called FAXCOM Command
Language (FCL) that enabled applications to redirect their
print output to the FAXCOM Server for fax transmission. This
enabled transactional output such as invoices and purchase
orders to be automatically faxed out – a significant
process improvement.
“Biscom’s success has been the result of our commitment
to product development and customer service,” said Mr.
Ho. “We’ve developed a loyal customer base with
our ability to develop fax delivery solutions that address
our customer’s business requirements, as well as our
ability to provide outstanding service and support.”
Product development has remained central
to Biscom’s
success over the years. Biscom has developed expertise in file
conversion for outbound faxes, so as to convert native file
formats to the TIFF fax format, and for inbound faxes, so as
to extract data and barcodes from TIFF images, and to convert
these images to new formats such as searchable TIFF and searchable
PDF.
A key driver for Biscom’s future growth is the ability
to solve customer’s document workflow requirements. Biscom’s
Advanced Fax Routing application provides a rules engine for
processing and delivering received faxes, with capabilities
such as extracting data from fax images, querying network resources,
and converting the fax image to a new format. Biscom’s
Image Indexing application provides a tool for viewing fax
images, capturing data from these images, and storing the image
and corresponding data to a searchable database.
Through acquisitions and the development of new technologies,
Biscom has evolved into a provider of multiple product lines,
including secure email and file delivery, file conversion and
image viewing, and video server solutions. Biscom holds numerous
patents and has received numerous product awards over the years.
