Biscom Connects with eCopy to Add Document Imaging and
Distribution Capabilities
Chelmsford, MA - February 13, 2008 – Biscom today announced support for eCopy ShareScan Essentials document imaging software, which helps organizations save time, reduce costs and improve business results by enabling any office worker to use a multifunction peripheral (MFP) or scanner to securely capture paper documents into electronic workflows. Using eCopy’s software developer kit (SDK), Biscom has developed seamless integration between ShareScan Essentials and the FAXCOM fax server solution to improve business workflows.
eCopy ShareScan Essentials, also announced today, please see http://www.ecopy.com/Newsroom_Press_Releases.asp, provides an extensible document imaging platform that delivers a consistent user interface across disparate MFP brands and scanners, making it easy for office workers to use and for organizations to deploy and support.
Biscom’s FAXCOM Server solution provides a network resource for managing inbound and outbound fax communications. MFP and scanner devices are valuable on-ramps for delivering paper documents through a network fax server.
“eCopy delivers a common, easy-to-use interface across networked MFP and scanner devices from all the top vendors,” said Brian Kilduff, VP Sales for Biscom. “By integrating with ShareScan, we have addressed our customers’ document imaging requirements without having to develop software for all the different document capture hardware platforms.”
eCopy ShareScan is the market’s most secure networked scanning application, providing authentication and encryption capabilities to safeguard intellectual capital and conform to compliance program requirements. ShareScan Essentials includes one copy of eCopy Desktop™, personal productivity software to create, view, edit and combine PDF documents.
eCopy makes available SDKs for independent software vendors (ISVs) and corporate developers to build connectors for native integration from ShareScan Essentials or eCopy Desktop to their business applications. ShareScan Essentials runs on Canon and Ricoh embedded MFP platforms as well as network-attached scanners. eCopy Desktop runs on Microsoft Windows software for PCs.
“Increasingly, organizations are looking for workgroup software that provides secure scan to file and scan to e-mail using Microsoft Exchange or IBM Lotus Notes,” said Bill Brikiatis, eCopy director of Corporate Marketing. “At the same time, ISVs and corporate developers are looking to incorporate document imaging from MFPs or scanners into business applications. ShareScan Essentials meets both needs. It provides organizations with a cost-effective software solution for secure document imaging and developers with a cross-brand document imaging platform that insulates them from the need to become experts in developing software for MFPs or scanners.”
