Biscom Announces Fax Server Integration with Sharp OSA™-enabled MFPs

Orlando, FL - May 6, 2008 – May 6, 2008 – Biscom today announced the release of its validated Sharp OSA Integration Module, FAXCOM Suite 9.4.4.0 that connects the FAXCOM Server product line with Sharp OSA-enabled MFPs. This integration enables Sharp OSA-enabled MFP users to scan and fax paper documents from the MFP through a network fax server.

The Sharp OSA platform can tightly integrate Sharp MFPs into a customer’s back-end IT system, allowing customers to create tailored solutions to meet each business’ unique challenges. Sharp OSA technology is designed to let network applications control the MFP through bi-directional communication, enhancing processes and optimizing workflow. Sharp OSA technology is available on all Sharp MX series MFPs.

FAXCOM Suite 9.4.4.0 users will lower their operational costs by connecting Sharp OSA™-enabled MFPs with Biscom’s FAXCOM Server solution. The FAXCOM Server provides a centralized network resource for sending, receiving, and tracking faxes electronically. This is more cost effective than implementing phone lines to individual MFP devices, and offers users and administrators a much broader feature set.

“Biscom developed the FAXCOM Suite 9.4.4.0 and joined the Sharp OSA Marketing Program to be validated for use with Sharp OSA-enabled MFPs in response to customer demand,” said Brian Kilduff, Vice President Sales & Marketing for Biscom. “Our customers want to maximize the capabilities of their Sharp OSA-enabled MFPs, and connecting to a network fax server saves them time and money.”

The FAXCOM Suite 9.4.4.0 enables customers to:

  • Scan paper documents and send to a fax recipient from any Sharp OSA-enabled MFP
  • Enable user authentication via Active Directory, LDAP, email, or local user list
  • Create and manage multiple cover pages
  • Administer user permissions for fax priority and fax scheduling
  • Track, store, and report on all fax activity in a searchable database

“With the FAXCOM Suite 9.4.4.0, Biscom is leveraging the open, flexible development capabilities of Sharp OSA technology to create an elegant, cost-effective fax solution for users of Sharp MFPs,” said Tom Davis, vice president, Marketing Applications Development, Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America.

The FAXCOM Suite for Windows? software provides a full suite of inbound and outbound fax features. Faxes received to FAXCOM Suite for Windows can be delivered to Sharp OSA-enabled MFPs, to users via email, and to network locations, among many other destinations. FAXCOM Suite for Windows supports intelligent rules-based document routing that uses OCR and barcode results and can query network resources.
