Biscom, Leader in Enterprise Fax, is First to Deliver Color and High Resolution Fax over the Internet for Laboratory Diagnostics Providers
Orlando, FL – February 21, 2010 –Biscom (www.biscom.com), the leading provider of enterprise fax software and document delivery solutions, announced at HIMSS11 in Orlando that its HDIPFax™ technology is in trials with a major independent clinical laboratory that will be using Biscom IP FAX to send high resolution color lab reports and medical images securely to physicians' offices.
Biscom IP FAX, which stands for High Definition-Internet Protocol Fax, goes beyond traditional fax by performing at much higher levels of speed, resolution, color, and security. It encrypts and moves images and printer driver output over the Internet virtually instantaneously. Unlike traditional fax, which uses analog telephone lines, Biscom IP FAX is an entirely digital technology that replaces phone lines with high-speed point-to-point Internet connections to securely transmit documents and images.
In the clinical laboratory application, the laboratory's existing systems simply invoke Biscom IP FAX via Web services and the documents are immediately output to existing printers or multifunctional devices used every day in physician's offices. Biscom IP FAX is implemented entirely in software; no fax machines are involved in the process. Lab test results are delivered to ordering physicians as soon as the lab work is completed, accelerating the appropriate treatment for patients whose tests indicate adverse results.
"The healthcare industry needs innovative technologies like Biscom IP FAX to help curb rising healthcare costs and improve patient outcomes," according to Biscom's Founder and Chairman S.K. Ho. "Biscom works with many major healthcare providers and payers to provide solutions that speed healthcare communications, while enabling them to protect PHI and comply with HIPAA and other regulations."
Biscom has served the healthcare industry for over 20 years with healthcare communications solutions that include enterprise fax server and hosted fax solutions, secure file transfer, and now Biscom IP FAX. In partnership with GE Healthcare, Siemens, and McKesson, Biscom supports thousands of healthcare institutions.
Biscom's Biscom IP FAX technology is patent pending. Biscom will be demonstrating Biscom IP FAX, together with Biscom's other healthcare communications solutions, in its booth (1002) at the HIMSS Conference, February 21-23, 2011.
