Biscom Internet Protocol FAX (IP FAX) is a fast and direct method for transmitting high definition and color documents. It is a proven solution for direct delivery and remote printing of documents over an encrypted IP connection that surpasses the security and performance of traditional fax, fax-over-IP, and email. While Biscom IP FAX can operate entirely on its own, Biscom IP FAX also extends the capabilities of Biscom's fax server and hosted fax solutions. At the core of this patent-pending technology is the Biscom IP FAX Switch software that is available either as a cloud-based or on-premises solution.

- Such enterprise functionality as Active Directory integration and automatic failover
- Built-in image viewer: zooming, rotation, brightness and contrast controls
- Supports unattended remote printing at destination
- No file attachment size limitation
- Encryption and credential checking
- Extends capabilities of existing Biscom fax installations without disruption
- Secure Biscom IP FAX Switches act as the hub for connections and credential validation
- Patent-pending metadata capture and transmission capability
Benefits
- Image and Document Transmission in Seconds – Moves documents instantly over the cloud to their destinations without dialing phone numbers and using analog phone lines.
- Greatly Improved Legibility – Eliminates fuzzy images that can lead to costly misinterpretation or data entry errors.
- Secure Point-to-Point Delivery – Unlike standard email, Biscom IP FAX encrypts communications and communicates directly, rather than making store-and-forward hops at unknown intermediate mail servers that are flooded with spam and may be insecure.
- Built-in Non-repudiation – Uses credential checking, confirmation services, and time stamping to ensure the status of sent and received documents.
- Transmission of Metadata with Images – Automatically includes identifying and transaction information with the transmitted images, which can be used by workflow processes to route the delivery of documents.
- Rapid Implementation – Enables adding new users quickly; for existing Biscom fax solution customers, uses the same currently installed fax queues and interfaces.
- Easy to Use – Enables senders to just substitute a Biscom IP FAX address for a phone number in the fax number field. As an example, the user could simply replace 1-978-250-4449 with sales.biscom.com and the document would be delivered over IP instead of over telephone lines.
- Credentials Confirmed Before Information Is Transferred – Validates the credentials of both the sender and receiver automatically before any data is transmitted.
- Your Documents and Images Go Wherever You Go – Biscom IP FAX supports tablet computing and mobile devices.
How it Works
Biscom IP FAX is a revolutionary new cloud-based communications solution that breaks through the speed and resolution limitations inherent in traditional fax.

The Biscom Queue communicates with one or more Biscom IP FAX Switches, which initiate a real-time secure data link to the remote device associated with each recipient's Biscom IP FAX address. The role of the Biscom IP FAX Switch is to establish presence and verify credentials of both the sender and receiver, in addition to tracking the length of calls and the amount of data transmitted. No user data is stored within the Biscom IP FAX Switch. Your application can easily include such Biscom IP FAX capabilities as remote printing and direct delivery to users and your customer's applications.

- For automated remote printing, a service running within a server on the recipient's network that connects to a printer
- For direct delivery to a user, a Biscom IP FAX Desktop Client (software that can be pushed to a customer that requires access to the Internet without requiring a connection to a Biscom Queue).
- For direct transmission into an application, workflow or database, the Biscom IP FAX API in conjunction with a Biscom Queue at the recipient's location
For remote printing applications, copies of remotely printed documents can be stored on a local server and can be reprinted if necessary.
Biscom IP Fax Technology
- IP-based Communications – Biscom IP FAX operates as an IP-based switching service, similar to a PSTN central office but completely over IP.
- Managed Services – The Biscom IP FAX Switch acts as a central exchange, verifies credentials of senders and recipients, tracks Biscom IP FAX transmissions, and manages bandwidth usage.
- Push Delivery – Documents and images are sent in real time directly to any Biscom IP FAX-enabled software or device.
- Secure Cloud Computing – Biscom IP FAX behaves like a virtual private cloud for enterprises, using Point-to-Point SSL connections and AES encryption.
- Immediacy – Real-time delivery; data is not stored on intermediary servers as is the case with email. When the sender hits Send, the document is in the hands of the recipient in moments.
- Non-repudiation – Confirmation of receipt and audit trail: data is not considered received until the data transfer is complete and the delivery status is returned to the sender.
- Scalability and Redundancy – Multiple queues and switches work together to support growing enterprises that have demanding business continuity requirements.
Biscom offers the option of implementing Biscom IP FAX Switches as software on servers or virtual machines within the enterprise, or connecting securely to Biscom IP FAX Switches in the cloud via Biscom's Hosted IP FAX Service.
