A key element of any technical operation is creating a disaster recovery plan. FAXCOM is no different and that’s why backing up your FAXCOM data is an essential component of the plan. It takes time to get everything just right in your fax environment and once you do you should ‘capture’ for DR (disaster recovery) purposes.

To properly safeguard your configurations and log files you can perform the following steps:

FAXCOM Server

To Backup:
From the FAXCOM Server launch the FAXCOM Server Administrator Program
From the File Menu choose [File] then [Save Configuration]:

You can choose to save only the Configuration Files of your FAXCOM Server or you can also choose to save all of your Log Files.

Input a file name save and select an accessible save destination to save a backup zip file.

Note: By default this process is a manual one-off process. (Some customers have created scripts to automate this process)

Storing the resultant backup output on a different machine is strongly advisable

To Restore:
Stop the FAXCOM Server Service.
Simply open the aforementioned zip file and copy the ‘U” folder and all subdirectories and files to the new C:\Program Files (x86)\Biscom\FAXCOM Server (or wherever you have FAXCOM Server installed.)
Choose Yes, to overwrite files.
Restart the FAXCOM Server Service.

FAXCOM Queue

To Backup:
Stop the FAXCOM Queue Service.
Using Windows File Explorer – navigate to where you have the queue file installed (Example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Biscom\FaxcomQ_Queue01) and copy all subdirectories and files beneath that folder.
Restart the FAXCOM Queue Service.

Restart the FAXCOM  Queue Service.
