HIMSS 2013 was an excellent opportunity to meet with Biscom customers and connect with new prospects. The event included 2.5 days of exhibits, with all the leading suppliers of Health IT products in the industry who market to hospitals, health plans, and practices.
On the final day, President Bill Clinton reviewed his vision of improving our healthcare system to meet the challenges of the future.
During the conference, Biscom sales and marketing personnel connected with customers, prospects, editors and industry analysts.
Some trends from the show included the following:
-Discussion about the new HIPAA omnibus rules and the need to keep protected health information completely secure.
– Hospitals are often still using FTP sites or email for file transmissions and are interested in secure file transfer.
– Customers are looking to leverage more of their existing fax capabilities as they learn of new needs to drive further efficiencies and EHR integrations.
-Many hospitals systems still use fleets of stand-alone fax machines, presenting a significant opportunity to save millions in supplies and telecom costs with fax servers and drive far more robust security and efficiency.
-Interest in partner integrations and with secure faxing and encryption at rest.
