UMDUniversity of Maryland suffered a large data breach last week when information for over 300,000 people including names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth and university identification numbers was stolen.   This latest breach occurs just when the media coverage of Target’s data loss was just quieting down.

The Washington Post coverage of the news highlights just how sophisticated attacks have gotten and how difficult it is to protect against them.   University of Maryland joins a number of other universities who have also come under seige in recent years.
