Manage Controlled Unclassified Information
NIST SP 800-171 is a special publication that outlines the guidelines for companies that work in the federal supply chain and receive, transmit, and store controlled unclassified information (CUI) as part of their work with government agencies.
CUI is information that is created by the government or entity on behalf of the government, that is unclassified yet still requires safeguarding. The information is sensitive and potentially relevant to national security. Controlled unclassified information can include email, electronic files, company information, contacts, and agreements, among other things. Companies that do not have a system in place to securely share CUI data are at risk of losing contracts to companies that have systems that can securely share information.
Biscom provides solutions that help non-federal companies that work with federal agencies share information securely. Biscom provides secure email and document sharing solutions that support access control, audit and accountability, identification and authentication, protection of media, and secure communications. These map to many of the NIST SP 800-171 document guidelines (3.1, 3.3, 3.5, 3.8, and 3.13) that pertain to data protection, logging, monitoring, and reporting.
Whether you prefer an on-premise or cloud solution, Biscom can support your secure sharing needs with applications that are as easy as email, yet help you comply with federal CUI data requirements. Biscom uses FIPS 140-2 certified encryption, supports secure email with the ability to reply securely, large file transfer, and full monitoring and reporting for audit needs. Biscom also integrates with Outlook, Dropbox, Box, and other cloud storage repositories.
