Earlier this month, Biscom participated in our local Relay for Life event to raise money for the American Cancer Society and make a global impact on cancer.
The relay is a key fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Team members take turns walking a designated track for twelve hours. Each team needs to have a team members on the track at all times to signify that cancer never sleeps. As the American Cancer Society says, “Cancer patients don’t stop because they’re tired, and for one night neither do we.”
This was our first time participating and we had a blast. We had the opportunity to remember loved ones lost, honor cancer survivors, as well as making new friends in our community. We kicked off the first lap at 5:30pm and ended at 5:00am. The weather cooperated, a rarity for New England.
We had the opportunity to meet a diverse group of teams that participated, from elementary children through retirees. There were games and activities to keep everyone energized, complemented by solemn ceremonies honoring loves ones. A balloon ceremony, luminaria, and a silent lap reflecting on those who have lost the fight or who are still fighting reminded us just why we should keep walking.
Biscom is dedicated to giving back to the community and we were thrilled to do our part in the battle against cancer.
